Why do I need to select a date when just asking a question?

You have to choose a date range to be able to contact one of the hosts. This just helps the hosts to keep track of all incoming inquiries. The schedule you choose when contacting will give the host an idea about your date of arrival but you may of course still ask the host to change these dates before finishing your booking.
