The Destination

We are located around 7Km from Ubud central in an area surrounded by rice fields. Perfect for a nice meditation walk or just cycling through the area using our bamboo bikes or electric scooter. Our restaurant, Mana Kitchen, is a probiotic restaurant where Indonesian tradition meets the ancient knowledge of the Japanese superfood. We use as much organic heirloom vegetables grown in our permaculture garden as possible, provide a menu that is health- and eco-conscious, and serve awakening food that nourishes life.

The Experience

Mana Earthly Paradise is a next-generation eco-hotel, run by an NGO, Earth Company. With our earthbag villas, probiotic restaurant, and conscious store, we are progressively eco- and socio-conscious. Mana aims to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Mana Earthly Paradise is located among the stunning rice paddies of Sayan, a traditional Balinese village with easy access to the center of Ubud. Surrounded by the rice fields, you can enjoy the tranquillity of Bali and observe traditional Balinese life while being only minutes away from all the conveniences that the center of Ubud offers. We always recommend that our guests take a morning or sunset walk through the rice paddies along the narrow path that adjoins our property.

The profit of mana goes to fund Earth Company's work to support the changemakers across the Asia Pacific.

Accommodation

Live in earth-bag houses, constructed from natural materials. Mana Earthly Paradise combines elements of traditional architecture with hints of minimalism and natural modernity. Our villas embody innovation, sustainability, and style. Using natural materials, six earth-bag villas have been crafted from long rolls of bags filled with soil, natural stones, reclaimed wood, and bamboo, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. We use solar power for our lighting, harvest rainwater, circulate wastewater, reduce water usage with water-saving showers and water-saving toilets, provide environmentally-friendly toiletries, and use zero-waste mattresses. Our restaurant, Mana Kitchen is an organic, probiotic, life-nourishing restaurant where Japanese superfood meets Indonesian cuisine. We use heirloom vegetables grown in our permaculture garden and other organic sources to serve up homemade probiotic food that awakens your mind, body and soul. Experience low-impact living surrounded by the beauty of Bali.

Sara is your host for this experience and will provide you with all the information needed.

I have 13 years of experience working across a variety of industries from major Indonesian TV station, an Australian oil company to a Dive resort in East Bali. A mother of two, Mana’s vision is near and dear to my heart. Living on the island of Bali for the past 11 years, I have witnessed firsthand the unchecked growth of my nation. And as an avid diver, I am confronted with environment’s fragility every time I descend below the waves.

Tell us more about what brought you to the path that you're on, the "why" behind your business and your offering(s), what excites you most about the work that you do, etc...?

Bali known as the Island of Gods or Island of Paradise has attracted so many tourists to come and experience its beautiful culture and nature. These tourists stayed at mainstream hotels in Bali, many of them are not sustainable. They ended up using 2,500L of water per day, while the locals use only 180L. Tourists generate 3.7kg of waste per day while the locals generate only 0.7kg. And 50% ends up in landfill. Through sustainable practices and innovative eco-technologies, Mana aims to be part of the solution, not the problem. Mana Earthly Paradise is a next generation eco-hotel, run by an NGO, Earth Company. We are progressively eco- and socio-conscious with our earth bag villas, probiotic restaurant, and conscious store. We believe that tourism does not need to negatively contribute to social and environmental issues. We aim to create a circular - more “earthly” - world. That is, a world driven by a positive, virtuous cycle in which the more we succeed as a business, the more everything around us also flourishes - the environment, community, and economy. The profit of Mana goes to fund Earth Company’s work to support the changemakers across the Asia Pacific.
