Food & Wine

Healthy, sustainable eating that celebrates local, organic produce through homemade cooking with an international twist.

For us, the mealtime should not only be nourishing but also a moment to learn about the culture of the region, to mingle and enjoy.

Here food is about health, sustainability, and community....and, of course, being delicious. We know the producers of most of the ingredients we use and we privilege natural and artisanal processes. You will feel the flavor and the love.

We privilege vegetarian options but we can also cook local meat, fish, and seafood on request. Meat is mostly free-range from our trusted producer and there is delicious fresh fish and seafood from our coast and local fisherman.

Brunch and happy hours are our favorites. Local wine, cocktails, and healthy delicious snacks available all day.

Vera is your host for this experience and will provide you with all the information needed.

I'm originally from the north of Portugal and my career in Fashion and Design led me to travel all over the world and live many years abroad, mostly in Italy, Brazil, and Finally, New York where I meet my husband, Cam, a Photographer originally from California with Mexican and Irish Roots. As New York City dwellers, we found ourselves devoting most of our free time to travel, mostly to places where we could surf and experience outdoor sports. Our mutual love for travel, nature and the beach would lead us to Alentejo, this amazing region, which we are now proud to call home.

Tell us more about what brought you to the path that you're on, the "why" behind your business and your offering(s), what excites you most about the work that you do, etc...?

The decision to settle in Cercal was no small challenge as we removed ourselves from our careers and the comforts of our previously established lifestyle. As we settle here the love for our region grows and makes us be very conscient of the choices we make and how they will impact the community and the land. Quinta Camarena is a very intimate project and you will feel it along with your stay: the decor made with personal family pieces and artwork from Cam, the Mexican and Italian influences in our cuisine, the veggies and flowers we grow ourselves. There was definitely a time when we thought owning a curated property in Portugal to host retreats was a far-off dream. We are honored and excited to share our dream home with you.
